Religious Education
Principal Aim
The principal aim of religious education is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.
Our Curriculum
At Woore Primary and Nursery School we follow the Shropshire Agreed Syllabus 2021. This is supported by supplementary units of work from 'RE Today' and from 'Understanding Christianity'. Through using the Understanding Christianity approach, we are meeting the requirements of the agreed syllabus with regard to the teaching of Christianity.
Teaching and Learning Approach
Within the units of work thre is a clear teaching and learning approach which enable pupils to 'make sense' of the religions and beliefs studied, 'understand the impact' of these beliefs in people's lives, and 'to make connections' in their learning and their wider experience of the world.
Assessment
Flexible assessment opportunities are given, based on end-of-phase outcomes, linked to the teaching and learning approach. Each unit has specific outcomes that help pupils to achieve the end-of-phase outcomes.
