Curriculum Intent

Our desire at Woore Primary and Nursery School is to offer the best possible education and ambitions for our pupils in partnership with parents and the local community. We aim to nurture curiosity and creativity through an inspiring, challenging and inclusive curriculum and through our school motto ‘Aim high, because everything is possible’.

We have designed our curriculum so that children are given the opportunity to build knowledge, skills and understanding whilst learning in an engaging, thematic way. We believe that children learn best when they enjoy the topics and are given opportunities to be creative and work collaboratively. Our aim is that all children are motivated to learn and become independent, confident, resourceful individuals, who are proud of their achievements and feel a sense of belonging to the school and community, as well as being ready to make a positive contribution to the wider world. Through our curriculum, we want pupils to move on to high school with a strong sense of self and belief for their future.

Our curriculum, which encompasses all core and foundation subjects, has been carefully designed to ensure coverage and progression across our mixed age classes wherever possible. Whilst much of our curriculum follows a thematic approach, we also recognise that there are times where some subjects are taught discreetly to ensure curriculum coverage and relevance.

Woore Primary and Nursery School provides a highly inclusive environment where learners enjoy their education. All pupils are helped to achieve their potential through individual challenge, targeted support and learning at their own pace, using learning styles specific to individuals.

We actively promote learning and playing outdoors as much as possible throughout the year within our extensive school grounds. Much of our learning takes place within our dedicated forest school area and EYFS outdoor areas in addition to our field and playground and outdoor learning hut.

We aim to develop fond and lasting memories for all our pupils through engaging and enriching experiences.  We believe our approach will inspire a love of learning and unlock the potential that lies within all of our children, preparing them to be happy, successful and responsible citizens in the future.
