Welcome Back!

Date: 8th Sep 2018 @ 10:30am

Welcome back to a new term!  I hope you had a lovely Summer and are all ready for the long term ahead.  The Autumn term is so important as we make new starts, create new learning habits and set the foundations for the year to come.

One big change this term is Spelling Shed.  We have bought into this exciting website to help the children with their weekly spellings.  Spelling tests are on Mondays, like last year, but hopefully the games on the site will help the children to not only score well in these test but also embed spelling rules as we go through the year.

Homework is still the same as last year, and that means that this first half-term is focused on our topic which is World War 2.  Projects are in during the last week of the half-term.  We have already started work on the topic, looking at how the war began in 1939, but also by reading our class novel, 'Carrie's War'.  I'm hoping that we will get some lovely writing based on this story of a girl's experience of being an evacuee in the war.  Indeed we have already started doing just this!

We have had a good week, and the children have settled in well.  I suppose the real work starts next week!
