Welcome back!

Welcome back to the new year! In class 1 we are excited to begin our new topics for the term and have several things on the go already.
In English lessons the children have been looking at the traditional tale of Cinderella and have been drawing story maps this week as well as creating their very own interpretation of the carriage and castle.
In our science work we have begun to look at the human body and have labelled our body parts as well as exploring our senses. We have been excited to use our new science area in the classroom and many of us have made some skeleton pictures using art staws.
Our studies in history have led us to learning about Florenece Nightingale this week and our younger children in Reception enjoyed being very creative with the bandages!
The children have been keen to show off their singing skills and even after their music lesson last Friday, I can still hear them singing 'Wind the bobbin up' throughout the day.
It has been a cold week this week and some children have been exploring ice and setting up their own ice investigations. We are eager to see where else the children will take their interests and look forward to helping them build on these and guide their learning.
This half term the homework topic is 'Animals' for the project work and this should be completed by the end of the 7 weeks. Don't forget to keep reading every day and practicing your common exception words and tricky words.
