What a week! In English we have been designing our own Roman museum, being inspired by some of the intriguing objects we have on display in the class at the moment. The children have thought up many wonderful ways of persuading visitors to come to their museum: from VR gladiators to themed playgrounds! We will finish our persuasive leaflets next week.
In Maths we have been using our number knowledge to double and half whole numbers. We have used terms such as x2, add to itself, halve, divide, split equally - all to help us to understand these key terms. We also spent some time revisiting written methods for addition. We will be looking at these in our parents' meeting on Tuesday.
In Topic, we have been studying how the Roman Empire spread across Europe, Asia and Africa. The children were very quick at coming up with ideas to explain the Romans' conquering, and I was really impressed with their reasoning on this subject.
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly Friday's visit from Jake, the storyteller. The children were entranced bu Jake's ability to spin a yarn and we all loved his exciting (and at times scary!) stories. We will be using Jake's telling of Androcles and the Lion to help us write our Roman story.
Next week is assessment week, so we will be testing Reading, Spelling, Grammar and Maths. A busy week to end a busy half term.
