Awesome Artists

In Class 2 we have been embracing our inner artists over the last 6 weeks. We have learnt the facts and styles of six artists beginning with Piet Mondrian and his use of the primary colours, we made collages to recreate his famous paintings. We then looked at Mark Rothko, who helped us to learn our secondary colours and introduced us to mixing colours to make new colours. Paul Klee’s style of painting taught us to gradually tint a primary or secondary colour while Jackson Pollock showed us how fun and messy painting can be when we sprayed and splatted onto paper to make patterns. To recreate Robert Delaunay’s style, we used pastels to create a piece which used warm and cool colours in circles around a line. Finally, today we used all our new skills to imitate a piece using circles like Wassily Kandinsky.
