Author Visit

Date: 18th Mar 2025 @ 2:50pm

Last week we had a visit from a local author- Linda Whipp who came into school and taught us a little bit about the process of actually publishing a book. We were amazed at how long it actually takes and how many stages there are before a book can go onto the shelves of a book store. We read her first book, 'A Dormouse's Tale' and then were given a challenge! We split into two groups: one group had to argue why it was important to cut down trees and the other group why we should not cut down trees. This lead to a miniature debate where we had to be as persuasive as we could and there were some fantastic arguments from both sides! We were even inspired to write our own persuasive letters from the perspective of the dormouse.
