Art, Sinking Ships and Starting Hearts

What a week! We had our trip to Liverpool on Tuesday, and whilst Class 2 got a lot from our visit to the Maritime Museum in the afternoon, I was particularly pleased that we got to visit the Tate Gallery. We are working in our sketching skills at the moment, and it was great to see so many of the children choosing artwork that inspired them, to have a go at reproducing. There was such a lot to see that we didn't have long in each room. We had to work quickly!
On Friday we were very lucky to have the first responders join us in class. They taught us what to do if we found someone unconscious and we were first on the scene. The whole class were amazing and listened well to the steps we would have to follow if there was an emergency. We learnt about the recovery position, CPR and even how to use a defibrillator. We all learned so much (including Mrs McBride and myself!).
Of course, in amongst all this excitement we have continued with our normal lessons; enjoying cricket with Coach Nigel on Monday; learning about Shang religions on Thursday and about Buddhism on Friday.
It's Forest School this week, and the weather looks ropey at best. Please remember to send the children with plenty of warm layers!
