PE & Sports Premium

Vision Statement for P.E

Our aim is for all children at Woore Primary and Nursery School to experience high quality Physical Education (P.E), school sport and physical activity that will lead to lifelong participation in sport as part of a healthy lifestyle.

We will aim to:

  • improve children's health and well being
  • provide high quality sporting opportunities for all
  • assist each individual to be the best that they can be
  • encourage community involvement and responsibility
  • promote a lifelong love of sport
  • celebrate sporting achievements
  • continue the lasting legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic games.

We recognise that sport has an important role to play in raising standards and narrowing the achievement gap. Research has shown that sport as part of a broad and balanced curriculum can improve attendance, behaviour and attainment. Sport can also build self-esteem, teamwork and leadership skills.

PE & Sports Premium

We use the PE and sport premium to secure improvements in the following 5 key indicators.

Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity, for example by:

  • providing targeted activities or support to involve and encourage the least active children
  • encouraging active play during break times and lunchtimes
  • establishing, extending or funding attendance of school sports clubs and activities and holiday clubs, or broadening the variety offered
  • adopting an active mile initiative
  • raising attainment in primary school swimming to meet requirements of the national curriculum before the end of key stage 2 - every child should leave primary school able to swim

In recent years Woore Primary and Nursey School have used some of the funding in the following ways:

  • Activsports Area Partnership including local competition
  • Coach hire to sports events
  • Forest School Level 3 Training
  • Forest School Leader across year
  • Forest School Resources
  • P.E resources
  • P.E CPD for Teaching Staff
  • Change4life clubs
  • Train Sports Leaders
  • Swimming provision for Y2 pupils
  • Releasing P.E coordinator to fulfil duties
  • Purchasing medals  to reward pupils in P.E and Sport
  • Buying in external expertise for School Games Award
  • Enhancing afterschool provision
  • Goal end Structure
  • Outdoor Classroom
  • KS1 bikes and bike shed
