Class 2 2017 - 2018

Miss Birch

Welcome to Class 2.

Hi everyone! Welcome back!

We are a mixed age range class of 17 children. We have 7 Y2s, 7 Y3s and 3 Y4s.

Our teachers in Class 2 are Miss Birch and Mrs Mason on a Monday morning.

Our teaching assistants are Mrs Booth (every morning except Tuesday and on a Monday afternoon), Mrs Pennill (All day Tuesday and Friday morning), Miss Kemp (Every other Tuesday afternoon and every Friday 2-3) and Mrs O'Dowd (every Wednesday and children also work with Mrs O'Dowd as soon as they enter school).

Swimming and Sport

This half term we are swimming every Monday afternoon. Could you please make sure your children have their swimming kits for this. Long hair needs to be tied back and any earrings removed. Our other P.E session is on a Thursday with Activ Sports. Again, please make sure your children have their P.E. kits (named) in school

On Thursday afternoons we have our Forest School lessons where Mrs Booth leads the children in their activities. Amongst many cross-curricular activities, children practise making shelters, learn how to use knots to join sticks together, make paint from natural materials and learn about plants as well as experiencing self initiated play in the mud kitchen.

Homework

Homework will be due in each Monday morning. For the first half term the children have a half-term project in addition to spellings, reading and times tables. For the second half term, pupils will manage their own homework through the suggested ideas given by the teacher in addition to spellings, reading and times tables. Details are clearly set out in the new homework books. For each piece of homework children are awarded 3 dojos.

We would also like children to read with an adult at home at least three times a week. Children will earn 3 dojos for every 3 reads and a raffle ticket with their name will be entered into our 3 reads pot.

Cold weather and water bottles

It is now getting colder as winter gets closer. Could you please make sure your children come to school with a coat (named). Children also need to drink water throughout the day. We ask for each child to have a water bottle in school that has their name on it.

Thank you,

Miss Birch
