Class 1 2020 - 2021
Welcome to Class 1
Our teachers are Mrs Hancock and Mrs Ward. Mrs Hancock is in class each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and all day on Tuesdays, Mrs ODowd covers on Thursday afternoons. Mrs Ward teaches on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and all day on Fridays (excluding Activsports P.E).
Our teaching assistant is Mrs O'Dowd who works with us for the majority of the week.
In class 1 we have PE on Fridays but please try to have your PE kit in everyday as timetables may vary. Don't worry we'll send it home on Friday for a wash! We will also be doing the daily mile each day so please ensure your child always has a warm and waterproof coat as we will go out whatever the weather.
Every Thursday afternoon we attend our on site forest school where we take part in various planned activities as well as a chance to get muddy in our forest mud kitchen! Children should come into school in their uniform and bring their Forest School kit to change into, with an empty carrier bag for muddy wellies. Please ensure that all bags are clearly labelled with your child's name. Please put all forest school kits in the outdoor wooden units outside your child's classroom at the beginning of the day.
Homework is due in each Monday and should be posted on Seesaw. For the first half term the children have a half-term project in addition to spellings, reading and maths work. For the second half term, pupils will manage their own homework through the suggested ideas given by the teacher in addition to spellings, reading and maths work. Details will go home at the beginning of the autumn term. Remember that reading every day is part of the children's homework. Pupils are rewarded with Class Dojo points for their efforts.
We like to share our news through Class Dojo, so please log in to stay informed with what we have been doing. You can also see your child's Class Dojo profile which keeps you in touch with how they are getting on in school. Children in Reception also have their work posted on Tapestry-parents will be given access to view their child's work each time something new is posted.
